Leonie took up karate at the age of 4 with instructor Leni Austin at the Caribbean Karate Club. She started competing in both Kata & Kumite competitions from the age of 6 years old. Leonie progressed through her belts and achieved her black belt at a young age. She then went on to focus on her kumite, where she was invited to train with the England Karate Squad from the age of 14. Leonie went on to be selected for the England Karate Team where she competed for her country on numerous occasions at International Opens, European & World Championships. When Leonie retired from competing she decided to become a karate instructor and coach. She has now gained 16 years of teaching and coaching experience to add to her previous 21 years of karate training and knowledge.
