Leonie began her karate journey at the age of 4 under the guidance of instructor Leni Austin at the Caribbean Karate Club in Ipswich. By age 6, she was actively competing in both Kata and Kumite disciplines. Her dedication and talent saw her progress steadily through the belt ranks, achieving her black belt at a young age.

At 14, Leonie was invited to train with the England Karate Squad, marking the beginning of her international career. She was later selected to represent England as part of the national team, competing at numerous International Opens, European Championships, and World Championships.

Following her retirement from competitive karate, Leonie turned her focus to teaching and coaching. She founded her first karate club and has since amassed over 17 years of coaching experience, complementing her 21 years of training and competitive knowledge.

Today, Leonie not only leads her own club but also serves as a coach for Karate England and holds a position on the Karate England Board, continuing to contribute to the development of the sport at a national level.
